UNITED STATES CATHOLIC CATECHISM FOR ADULTS:

Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ

in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world. . . We receive the message of faith in a deeper and more intensive manner with great emphasis given to the person of Jesus Christ, who asked the

Father to give the Holy Spirit to the Church for building up the community in loving service.

CONFIRMATION FOR ADULTS

A confirmation Mass is held at St. Columba Cathedral in November. Parishes prepare adults through meetings and discussion about the meaning of the sacrament, and full membership in the church prior to being presented at the cathedral. Confirmation of adults can also take place within the context of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program (RCIA). The RCIA process prepares adults for sacraments through weekly meetings, and culminates at the Easter Vigil in the parish.
